Prince George Will Attend an Unexpected School This Fall

Prince George will officially be attending London’s Thomas’s Battersea School this fall, Kensington Palace has announced. Currently, the little prince is a student at Westacre Montessori School, a preschool in Norfolk, England. Prince William and Kate Middleton will move from their country residence, Anmer Hall, later this year to live full time in the nation’s capitol. And while this news has long since meant that Prince George would be transferring nursery schools, many expected him to attend the Wetherby School, where both Prince William and Prince Harry were educated as young boys.
“Their Royal Highnesses are delighted to have found a school where they are confident George will have a happy and successful start to his education,” the palace said in a statement, referring to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s choice. The news was also shared on Kensington Palace’s official Twitter feed. “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have announced that Prince George will attend Thomas’s Battersea School in London from September 2017,” read a message posted at the time. Battersea is a London neighborhood, which is an approximately 30 minute drive away from what will be the family’s Kensington Palace residence.
“Thomas’s Battersea is a busy, thriving, purposeful school,” the institution says on its website. And according to the same letter, which was penned by the school's headmaster, Thomas’s primary value is to “be kind.” An important lesson for anyone, but perhaps especially for a future king.
