Prince Charles Reportedly Has This Sweet Memento From Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Wedding

Prince Charles may currently live an ocean apart from his son Prince Harry, his daughter-in-law Meghan Markle, and grandson Archie, but he reportedly keeps the Sussex family close to his heart by way of a special memento from Harry and Meghan's 2018 wedding at St. George's Chapel.

As you'll remember, Prince Charles stepped in to walk Markle down the aisle after her father, Thomas Markle, was unable to attend the grand Windsor affair. According to the new book, Finding Freedom, the Prince of Wales keeps a “framed black-and-white photo of himself escorting his daughter-in-law at his Clarence House residence."

It was a very poignant moment to witness and seems to have mattered greatly to Prince Charles, as well.

“I asked him to and I think he knew it was coming, and he immediately said, ‘Yes, of course, I’ll do whatever Meghan needs, and I’m here to support you,’” Harry has said previously in a BBC documentary about his father. “For him, that’s a fantastic opportunity to step up and be that support, and you know, he’s our father, so of course he’s gonna be there for us.”

Per the Independent, Finding Freedom also reveals a reportedly close relationship between Markle and Prince Charles. The duchess “found such a supportive and loving father in Charles, which has really changed her life for the better," one source told the book's authors.

Back in 2018 we learned that Charles reportedly calls his daughter-in-law Tungsten (which is a type of metal) because of her strength. "Prince Charles admires Meghan for her strength and the backbone she gives Harry, who needs a tungsten-type figure in his life as he can be a bit of a softy," a source said at the time. "It's become a term of endearment.”

It all sounds very sweet, especially given the drama surrounding the royal family we so often hear about. Hopefully, sometime soon Charles will get to visit the Sussex fam at their new home, which is reportedly located in the seaside town of Santa Barbara and take some new photos for the mantel.
