At the center, the Prince of Wales received a gift from Ukrainian refugee children at the center: wooden spoons painted in traditional Ukrainian patterns. "Marvelous, thank you, thank you," Charles said to a child. "I love the way you painted that."

Joining Prince Charles and Princess Margareta were representatives of Red Cross, the Salvation Army, and the U.N. refugee agency, as well as the mayor of Bucharest.

Shortly after the war began, Prince Charles condemned Putin's invasion as "brutal aggression." Charles's visit to Bucharest—which is about 150 miles from Romania's border with Ukraine—is the closest a senior British royal has come to the conflict, per the BBC.
