  • On the day of King Charles III's coronation, Prince Archie celebrated his fourth birthday.

  • The small, intimate gathering included a lemon cake made by his mother.

  • Prince Harry even left the U.K. shortly after his dad's coronation to ensure he could be there for his son's special day.

The coronation of King Charles III may have brought out a slew of royal relatives, hangers-on, and associated celebrities and dignitaries. But one portion of the Windsor bloodline opted instead for a breezy California birthday party instead.

That's because the day of King Charles's coronation was also the day of his grandson Archie's 4th birthday. And while Archie's father, Prince Harry, traveled to the U.K. to see Charles's ceremony, the U.S. Sun reports that mother Meghan Markle "hosted a small group of friends and family at their Montecito mansion."

Seeking to give Archie a normal, low-key birthday celebration, the Sun's source notes that "Archie was treated to a lemon birthday cake, baked by the duchess using fruit from their garden." Hoping to "minimize drama," Meghan reportedly "stayed home to celebrate Archie’s birthday because she felt it would be inauthentic to do anything else."

It's a testament to the couple's ongoing efforts to put parenting first, evidenced further by Harry's commitment to still be there for hit son on his birthday, despite the coronation:

"Despite missing the party, Harry did arrive back in the US in time to see his son on his birthday after rushing home from London. The duke arrived at Los Angeles International Airport at around 7.30pm local time - 3.30am UK - after spending just 28 hours in the UK."

It's noted that "Harry was determined to be back in time to tuck Archie into bed."

As for who else attended the small, intimate birthday gathering? "When asked about the guestlist, the source told the Mail on Sunday: 'Some of their friends are celebrities, so yes, that’s likely.'" Their source names no specific names, but the Sun speculates that those celebrities could include notable neighbors the couple has, like Oprah Winfrey, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Ellen DeGeneres.

Of course, that's just speculation on the part of the Sun, since all their source indicated was some of the attendees were celebrities, without stating who. Meaning we could also pluck out any celebrity names to speculate were there. So ... let's go with ... Lady Gaga ... uh ... Tony Shalhoub, and ... um ... ALF. We have not asked if they were there, and have no reason to believe they were, but technically they are all celebrities, so ... it's possible, right?
