Monaco's royal family is no stranger to scandal, but the last few weeks have proven particularly tense for fans of the Monegasque nobles. In late August, reports surfaced that Prince Albert—the only son of Prince Rainier III and Grace Kelly—and his wife, Princess Charlene, had separated, with Charlene having supposedly relocated to Switzerland. Shortly thereafter, Charlene's personal Instagram account was deleted from the social media service, while Albert apparently went solo at a birthday celebration for his eldest son, Alexandre Grimaldi, all of which served to fuel speculation.

While the royal couple and Monaco's palace have remained mum on the issue, over the weekend, Charlene and Albert made their first public appearance together since the rumors began. They appeared at an event for the launch of TVMonaco, Monaco's first public television channel, according to a post made on the royal palace's Instagram.

For the occasion, Charlene dressed in a simple and chic ensemble of a black, sleeveless V-neck top and cream-colored, pleated slacks with black, pointed-toe pumps.

As yet, neither Charlene nor Albert have commented on the rumors of their troubled marriage, and it's not clear at the moment whether this most recent appearance was an attempt to quell the speculation, or if the event was a part of what German newspaper Bild and French newspaper Voici referred to as their "ceremonial" relationship.

Though the latest rumors about a rift in the royal marriage have been particularly heated, their far from the first ones Charlene and Albert have been subject to since they wed in 2011. In 2021, Charlene spent over a year away from her royal duties after a series of health issues caused her to stay in South Africa for six months and later retreat to Switzerland for treatment of exhaustion. She returned to making royal appearances last summer, and has since been on a regular roster of events.
