At a charity auction, featuring Primož Roglič as the host, the ski jumper turned road cyclist put up several items to bid on, both from his skiing days and his bike racing days. Roglič raised over €200,000 on the night. The money raised will be used as scholarship funds for young athletes in need of financial support in order to participate in all kinds of sports. Tadej Pogačar was also in attendance, along with big names in sports from across all disciplines.

But it wasn’t all business. In fact, the entire event was lighthearted and in the name of letting loose. At one point Roglič and his former ski jumping teammate, Robert Hrgota, demonstrated Roglič’s form, just, without skis, or a ski jump. Hrgota is currently the National Men’s Jumping Team head coach.

Roglič jumped in the air and Hrgota caught him, Dirty Dancing style. The audience ate it up, of course. The duo was indeed having the time of their life.

The charity event featured photos of Roglič as a young ski jumper. He began competing in 2003 and was the Junior World Team champion in 2007. He also won two Continental Cup wins and set a personal best at 185 meters. Roglič performed for the last time in ski jumping in 2012, but clearly still has fond memories.

In an interview for Eurosports, Roglič said that he was too young to have the respect or the fear that he needed to really succeed in ski jumping. Because of that he had several bad crashes, including one in 2007.

Luckily, Roglič found cycling, and he also found discipline and respect for the sport he truly loves. Certainly everyone at the event, and fans around the world will look forward to more exciting action from the Slovenian rider in the coming season.
