Who's on the New Mexico primary election ballot and where to vote in Doña Ana County
Here are the federal, state and county races that will appear on all, or at least some, ballots in Doña Ana County for the primary election on June 7.
New Mexico has closed primaries, meaning each primary election is for voters registered only within the state's three major parties — Democrat, Libertarian and Republican — and voters can cast a ballot only in the party in which they are registered.
However, following changes to state election law, this year if an unaffiliated or minor party voter wishes to register with a major party to vote in the primary, they can do so up to and on Election Day at polling places countywide and then change their affiliation after the election.
Voters already affiliated with one of the three major parties — the Democratic, Republican or Libertarian parties — are not able to switch affiliations if they did not do so by May 10.
The winners of the primary elections will face off in the general election on Nov. 8.
