It is a truth universally acknowledged that modern dating is a nightmare. If you've ever wished that courtship could be more like it was in the Regency era—slow, respectful, conducted mostly through handwritten letters—then you'll want to mark your calendar for this new Jane Austen-inspired dating show.

Pride & Prejudice: An Experiment in Romance is an upcoming Peacock dating series that sounds vaguely like a Regency-era take on The Bachelorette. The show centers on "a heroine in search of her duke," and will see a group of eligible suitors competing for her affections in a Regency-style England.

"Housed in a castle on the countryside, set on a beautiful backdrop of rolling hills, the heroine and suitors will experience that with which dreams are made of," the official synopsis continues. "From carriage rides and boat rides on the lake to archery and handwritten letters to communicate, they will be immersed in a time-traveling quest for love. In the end, our heroine and her suitors will discover if the ultimate romantic experience will find them true love." The show doesn't have a premiere date yet, but 2022 seems like a safe bet.

If your first thought upon reading this was "Where do I sign up?" you're in luck. Auditions to be the "heroine" are open now. "Is modern dating life failing you?" asks the application. "Do you long for a night of romance, chariot rides, and balls? Do you want to find love in a beautiful, international location?" Does anybody say no to that last one?! "If selected, we will transport our heroine and suitors to an international location where they will get to experience what dreams are made of and be fully immersed in a time-traveling quest for love."
