New 'Prey' Trailer Introduces Action-Packed 'Predator' Prequel

The first trailer for Prey, the Dan Trachtenberg-directed next chapter in the Predator franchise, has officially arrived.

The two-minute preview for the action-thriller sets the scene 300 years in the past, when a Predator threatens the people of the Comanche Nation. Among them, a fierce young woman named Naru becomes a focal point in the plot, as she sets out to hunt and kill the mysterious creature that is targeting her camp. Ultimately, the brave fighter must face off against the vicious alien foe in an epic showdown.

Trachtenberg is directing the project based on a script written by Patrick Aison (Jack Ryan, Treadstone). The film is produced by John Davis, Jhane Myers and Marty Ewing, with executive producers Lawrence Gordon, Ben Rosenblatt, James E. Thomas, John C. Thomas and Marc Toberoff.

Filmmakers were “committed to creating a film that provides an accurate portrayal of the Comanche and brings a level of authenticity that rings true to its Indigenous peoples," as noted by 20th Century Studios. The cast is composed almost entirely of Native and First Nations talent, including Midthunder, Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp, Michelle Thrush and Julian Black Antelope.

Prey will premiere on Hulu on August 5. Watch the official trailer above.

Elsewhere in entertainment, Netflix has dropped the first teaser for Tim Burton's Wednesday starring Jenna Ortega.
