The Pretzel Hut in Lancaster County now open

BRICKERVILLE, Pa. (WHTM) — A long-time restaurant and petting zoo in Lancaster County has officially opened its doors under new ownership.

The wait is finally over — The Pretzel Hut, located at 2224 Furnace Hills Pike, has officially reopened its doors in Brickerville, Lancaster County.

abc27 new reported back in February when we learned that the purchase of The Pretzel Hut had been finalized, and the new owners of the business would be Kathi and Dwight Zimmerman.

“This wonderful local family grew up surrounded by the snack and food business and find great happiness in sharing hospitality,” The Pretzel Hut previously shared on Facebook. “Dwight grew up on a dairy farm where home-grown food and good ice cream were VERY important. Kathi enjoys making delicious comfort food and can’t wait to meet you ALL as she honors the original Pretzel Hut menu and adds some new homemade additions of her own.”

This Week in Pennsylvania

The Pretzel Hut recently announced on Facebook that Wednesday, April 17, is their official opening day. According to The Pretzel Hut, moving forward their hours of operation will be:

  • Wednesdays – Saturdays // 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

  • Sundays // 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The Pretzel Hut rests on a five-acre parcel and features a 2,300-square-foot eatery, as well as a petting zoo that is home to peacocks, turkeys, bunnies, two baby pigs, and goats. The new owners plan on adding more animals to the petting zoo in the near future.

In addition to the restaurant and zoo, The Pretzel Hut also features ‘The Grove’, which is an outdoor seating area for children.

According to The Pretzel Hut, they are currently hiring and if you are interested in applying you are encouraged to call or message them for more information.

The Pretzel Hut was originally owned and operated by Angie and Tom Rabold who ran the establishment for 22 years before listing it for sale in December 2023.
