Lady Gaga is the queen of the unexpected. Every project she works on comes with a new style chapter: one minute it’s a country-western aesthetic for her “Joanne” era; next, it’s the full-on Hollywood glamour she embraced for her A Star Is Born promo tour. Always one to switch up her look, the singer-actress has since shifted gears to focus on her new beauty line, Haus Laboratories—and it seems her new fashion vibe to go with it is all about pink. Last night, Gaga took to Instagram to share her latest fit, where she was fully decked out in the color—but with a choice of footwear then gave the ensemble a less precious, and more gothic, twist.
Striking her best pose, Gaga channelled one of her icons, Marilyn Monroe, in a strapless dress in a pink houndstooth print by Adriana Sahar—with the matching gloves to go with it, of course. Then, she dripped herself in diamond jewelry (because it was Monroe, after all, who sang that diamonds are a girl’s best friend). When it came time for her choice of shoes, Gaga didn’t go for the typical stiletto—she chose a hefty pair of patent combat boots instead, which had an extreme platform sole (a style she’s rocked before). The death-defying shoes lent a grungy finish to her outfit, while proving she’s the ultimate queen of tricky—not to mention badass—footwear. Perhaps her next business venture should be offering lessons on how to walk in them.
