President Joe Biden will greet Prince William and Kate Middleton in Boston on Friday, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre confirmed today. "We're still finalizing and working through the details," Jean-Pierre shared in her briefing. "We don't have any more specifics to share on that."

Prince William and Kate, the Princess of Wales, arrived in Boston's Logan Airport this afternoon for their three-day visit to the Massachusetts capital in celebration of the Earthshot Prize. It is their first overseas visit since the death of Prince William's grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, which he noted in a statement upon his arrival.

"On this, our first overseas visit since the death of my grandmother, I would like to thank the people of Massachusetts and particularly of Boston for their many tributes paid to the late Queen. She remembered her 1976 bicentennial visit with great fondness," the Prince of Wales shared. "My grandmother was one of life's optimists. And so am I. That is why last year we launched the Earthshot Prize with the ambition to create a truly global platform to inspire hope and urgent optimism as we look to save the future of our planet."

Friday will be the first official meeting between President Biden and both Waleses. Biden met the late Queen Elizabeth, and King Charles, on numerous occasions over the years. In 2021, he met Prince William at the COP26 UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow.

Earlier this year, President Biden traveled to the UK for Queen Elizabeth's state funeral, and spoke with King Charles to offer his condolences.

"In the years ahead, we look forward to continuing a close friendship with The King and The Queen Consort," he and First Lady Jill Biden wrote in a statement following Queen Elizabeth's passing. "Today, the thoughts and prayers of people all across the United States are with the people of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth in their grief. We send our deepest condolences to the Royal Family, who are not only mourning their Queen, but their dear mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her legacy will loom large in the pages of British history, and in the story of our world."
