Precious Dogs Surrendered to Shelter Because Owners 'Didn't Have Time for Them' Deserve Better

Seeing animals in shelters can be heartbreaking, but knowing how many surrenders could have been avoided is even more tragic. Of course, there are sad yet genuine reasons why a pet may need a new home. However, as the Australian Animal Protection Society explains, most of their surrenders are unnecessary and heartless.

Shelter staff put together a TikTok video of just a few sweet shelter dogs who came to the shelter when they grew out of their puppy stage. If you ask us, anyone would be lucky to love them!

Our hearts are shattered to see these loving fur babies waiting in a shelter for their homes. We know that the staff and volunteers at AAPS are doing everything they can to keep the animals entertained and happy, but nothing can come close to the love and safety these angels will feel with their forever owners. Who knows? Maybe one of their forever owners will find them from this video!

As sweet and adorable as these fur babies are, this video is an important reminder to do some serious consideration before adopting a dog--let alone a puppy. Even though the people who surrendered these dogs claimed they had 'no time for them,' shelter pros know that they truly never intended to give them a lifetime of love and care.

As AAPS said in their video description, "The majority of our surrender requests are for young, large breed dogs whose families never intended to train, socialize or love them past their tiny puppy stage." That makes us so mad! These shelter dogs deserved so much more than what their first families gave them, but we know their friends at AAPS won't let them go home with anyone less than the very best.
