Prankster veterans sent New Jersey mayor a bag of inappropriate candy, and police investigated it
Kelly Yeade, the mayor of Hamilton Township, N.J., found herself to be the recipient of a bag of inappropriate candy.
Yeade’s office received the package of penis-shaped candy that was purchased from a website known as Dysfunctional Veterans, which also sells items such as T-shirts, hats, and other gag gifts. According to the group’s website and Facebook page, the members of the site are “a brotherhood and sisterhood of veterans rooted in sarcasm and the things that remind us we are not alone.”
Yeade was not present when the not-safe-for-work package arrived. “My staff intercepted it and then asked the Hamilton Township police department to find out the origin of the package,” Yaede told NJ Advance Media news outlet. “When I was alerted to it, I didn’t give it a second thought, and laughed it off.”
Dysfunctional Veterans shared a post on its Facebook page alluding to the police investigation.
The post says the mayor “has enlisted the help of her police department to investigate who sent this! Not just any cop either – she has a MAJOR CRIMES detective on it! As usual, we don’t turn over the names of our customers unless we are compelled to by a court. The detective was cool by the way… go easy on him.”
Yaede, however, reportedly put an end to the investigation. “It was a prank, and that’s all I took it as,” she said.
