Perhaps the quote below from the magazine’s first issue best encapsulates our mission in bringing POWDER back to print:

"To us powder means freedom, with an emphasis not on how you do it, just doing it more."- POWDER Volume 1, Issue 1, 1972/1973

With our founders' words in mind, The Skier’s Magazine is picking up right where it left off. The 23/24 Photo Annual is loaded with the type of engaging stories that readers have come to expect over the last 50 years.

Features include a three-part exploration of the colossal winter in Mammoth Mountain, Lake Tahoe, and the Wasatch Range from local writers who lived the experience and a piece on keeping indigenous tribal traditions alive atop British Columbia’s Mount Curry.

The beloved column, The Jaded Local, makes its return through the words of Hans Ludwig, and a spirited crew of young, backcountry skiers embarks on an epic journey deep into the Nevada mountains promising an adventure-filled reading experience.

Those familiar with POWDER know that the meticulously selected photos are as important to the magazine as the words themselves.

POWDER has searched far and wide to gather a stunning collection of images to form the Photo Annual- a visual experience best enjoyed in print.

The satisfying touch of the high-quality pages brings back those feelings of exploration, adventure and wonder that POWDER has provided for decades.

These photos are more than just pleasing to look at. They’re intimate glimpses into the perfectly unique skiing experiences of the men and women on both sides of the lens.

Ultimately, POWDER is back to doing what it does best — giving you more reasons to ski than you can find anywhere other than the mountain itself.

Welcome back, skiers.

POWDER to the people, POWDER to you!
