Portland Rose Festival will kick off with CityFair, fireworks display

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Now over a century old, the Rose Festival has become a key part of Portland’s summer and it all begins Friday night.

The festivities begin with the CityFair opening at 5 p.m. at Tom McCall Waterfront Park, then fireworks will light the night at 9:50 p.m.

However, since the fireworks will take place between the Morrison and Hawthorne bridges, both will be closed to traffic from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. But officials say highway access will remain open.

Across the entire weekend, attendees can look forward to 50 music, theater and performance acts, over 30 brews in celebration of Oregon Brewer’s Festival, over 20 different food vendors, carnival rides and more.

The CityFair’s other hours are 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, May 25 and 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, May 26 and Monday, May 27.
