Port Royal, Naples history: Little fishing spot morphs into luxe neighborhood
Let’s travel back 105 years to a great little fishing spot known as Hack’s Grove. Never heard of it?
You might know it better by its more modern name, Port Royal in Naples.
The historic photo depicts Robert H. West from Cincinnati, Ohio, and John Hachmeister in a fishing boat. The caption reads: “Landing, Hack’s Grove, April 1919.”
Flash forward to Feb. 12, 2024: This area boasts the most expensive home for sale in the country (according to the Wall Street Journal); listed at $295 million.
