Popular Ski Resort Puts Last Season's Record Snow Into Perspective

Some things, like before and after photos that depict the snowmageddon that was last season, don't get old.

The latest contribution to this popular series comes from Brighton Resort, Utah, which relied on photos of its Wren Hollow trail sign by patroller and photographer Jake Blaskowski to illustrate just how deep it was during the previous winter.

Featured in the photos is another Brighton patroller and Jake's wife, Natalie Blaskowski.

From the caption:

"If you ever need a better view on how much snow we got last season, here is what Wren Hollow looked like during peak winter and then in the offseason 🤯 Let's hope we get as much snow this season!"

I'm with you on that last sentence, Brighton. Heck, I imagine you Utah folks would do fine if you got half as much snow as last season -- but I don't think anyone, aside from the plow drivers and those doing avalanche mitigation work, would mind a repeat snowmageddon appearance.

Unfortunately, it's still too early to say exactly how this winter will pan out in Utah. What about the El Niño, you ask? Don't forecasters think that'll impact the coming ski season?

Yes and no. In some states, the appearance of an El Niño loads the dice in one direction or the other, but in Utah, it doesn't change much, leaving the odds of a good snow year pretty much up to random chance -- at least when you're thinking in the long term.

That means your best hedge against a bad snow year is, you guessed it, snow dances. Keep em' up!
