You’ve probably heard about the heart-healthy benefits of olive oil. But have you ever thought about how it can benefit your skin? Last year, Kosterina, a woman-owned Greek olive oil brand, delved into the skin care market with a face oil and balm. However, it recently launched an extra virgin olive oil deodorant — and it’s definitely worth trying.

Kosterina’s Extra Virgin Deodorant is all-natural and aluminum-free. According to the brand’s product description, it “draws on the nourishing properties of our signature extra virgin olive oil to moisturize while protecting against odor.”

The olive oil contains polyphenols, which are natural antioxidants that can protect skin from sun damage and cancer and help reverse signs of aging, according to Dr. Deanne Mraz-Robinson, M.D., of the Connecticut Dermatology Group, who spoke with Women’s Health on the topic.

The deodorant also features the fresh scents of lavender, lemon and rosemary to keep your pits smelling clean — essentially the smells of the Mediterranean. Simply glide it on like any other brand you’ve used in the past to combat sweat, smell fresh and moisturize your underarms.

“I’ve tried SO many natural deodorants, and [I’m] always disappointed with the results. This one doesn’t leave weird clumps under your arms and goes on smoothly. It also smells incredible!” wrote one reviewer on Kosterina’s website.

“Really good!” said another reviewer. “This deodorant has staying power all day long and has a wonderful light scent. Also feels smooth and fresh. Best deodorant!”

The deodorant retails for $20 on Kosterina’s website. If you’re going to get the deodorant, make sure you also check out the brand’s Extra Virgin Oil Balm for moisturizing your lips and face and its tasty olive oils for salads, cooking and more. Really, you can’t go wrong with any of Kosterina’s products.
