Popular Bolton Valley Indoor Skatepark near Burlington, VT Projected to Close and Be Replaced by Tennis and Pickle Ball Court

Bolton Valley Resort near Burlington Vermont holds a small indoor skatepark, supplying a safe and fun space for the local Vermont skateboard community. But that is all about to change as the CEO of the resort, Lindsay DesLauriers decided to dismantle the skatepark, turning it into a tennis and pickleball court.

The local skate community banded together, doing all that they could to keep the park open, and started a petition that received over 1,500 signatures, and feedback against the skatepark removal reached over 300 comments of input on the resort's Instagram page. But overall DesLauriers didn’t budge and was determined to remove the skatepark despite the community input.

It's really disheartening to see the dismissal of the skateboarding community, and in fact, many of the active users of the skatepark are long-time employees of DesLauriers, in whom she refused to have a prior conversation with them before making her decision on closing the park down.

Not only is this skatepark popular amongst the local skateboarding community but many organizations and nonprofits such as Chill Foundation which gets disadvantaged youth on boards and the Vermont Adaptive Veteran Ventures help disabled vetrans to have new and fun experiences.

This skatepark is one of the very few indoor parks in the entire New England area, providing a safe and dry space for skaters to have fun, boost their mental health, and stay active during the winters. There are however plenty of indoor tennis and pickleball spots throughout New England, and I guess now there will be even more.
