Popeyes’ Cajun Thanksgiving Turkey Is Back, but if You Want One, You Better Reserve It ASAP

Tempted to outsource the entrée? Popeyes has your back — if you act fast.

Here at Food & Wine, Thanksgiving is like our Super Bowl. From top-notch wine pairings to the secrets to cooking your best bird every which way (smoked, spatchcoked, roasted, and beyond) to almost-too-pretty-to-eat pies, we start planning for next year’s Thanksgiving the day after Black Friday.

However, since we often talk turkey for several seasons before the big day, by the time the fourth Thursday in November rolls around, we’re even ready to outsource parts of the feast. Admittedly, we’d never actually surrender the chance to whip up our own bird for the big day. But for Friendsgiving or Thanksgiving round two with another part of the family? Absolutely.

So when Popeyes reached out with the news that its Cajun-Style Turkey was back — for delivery in the continental U.S. or pre-order and pick-up in-store — our ears immediately perked up. Rubbed and infused with what Popeyes describes as “zesty Louisiana-style seasonings,” the fast food chain’s popular whole bird recipe reminds us a bit of our Spice-Rubbed Turkey … just minus the mess of seasoning and the hassle of carving out room in the refrigerator for the dry rub to infuse.

As of Monday, October 9, semi-homemade supper hosts can secure their “homemade” spicy bird by ordering it online for home delivery at the.cajunfix.popeyes.com. (It’ll be our little secret that you didn’t DIY.) If you go that route, the turkey will come frozen and land at your door within one to three business days. From there, it’s ready to thaw, heat, slice, and serve at any holiday gatherings on your agenda.

Popeyes says that its Cajun-Style Turkey serves about eight to 12 people. Including shipping, each doorstep-delivered bird clocks in at $99 plus sales tax. A portion of the profits goes toward the Popeyes Foundation to support teammates and community members facing hard times.

If dropping $100 on the turkey alone sounds like a stretch, you can also call or swing by your local Popeyes today to reserve your turkey for pickup on or after October 17. Prices vary based on location, but you can trim off some of the expense since the fast food chain doesn’t have to cover the cost of dry ice and postage.

Supplies are limited, so if you’re set on securing a spicy bird, find your nearest location online and pre-order ASAP. Round out your menu with these all-star apps, easy Thanksgiving sides, and showstopping pies and tarts. Then pop open a few bottles of sommelier-selected wine, and everyone will think your holiday menu is the hottest thing around.
