Popeyes Brought Back Its Red Velvet Cake Cups Just In Time For Valentine’s Day

Just in time for the big day, Popeyes has added a second red dessert to its menu. While you could indulge in one of the iconic chicken chain's strawberry cheesecake pies, you can now also sink your teeth into an individual-sized red velvet cake cup.
Popeyes welcomes back the seasonal dessert this February 14 after it went on hiatus back in 2016, as Chew Boom reports. For the low price of $2.99, you won't break the bank on a day when a dozen roses can cost you an arm and a leg. Each cup contains red velvet cake topped with creamy vanilla frosting and more sprinkles of red velvet cake, which provide a nice little extra pop of color.

If cheesecake is more to your fancy, the pies are stuffed graham cracker crumbs and a strawberry pie filling. They retail for the even lower price $1.29 at participating Popeyes, which is significantly cheaper than buying an actual slice of New York cheesecake. I did the math, and two slices of pie are cheaper than one serving of red velvet cake cup. The Golden Rule is: Calories don't count on Valentine's Day. Especially if you're spending tonight at home alone watching Cheer on Netflix, why not buy two for yourself? You're worth it.
Of course, no order at Popeyes is complete without a classic chicken sandwich. Because if even Oprah can't get her hands on something, you know it must be delish.
