Popeye’s Introduces ‘Girl Dinner’ Menu But Fans Are So Confused: ‘Girls Don’t Eat Chicken?’

“Girl dinners” have been getting a lot of buzz lately. In short, the concept, which was coined by TikToker Olivia Maher, involves eating a range of snacks for dinner—and everyone is hopping on board (although some people find it to be troubling and part of a harmful restrictive diet). Now, even Popeye’s is finding a way to capitalize on this viral trend by unveiling a new menu that will allow all the girlies to have a little bit of everything for dinner. However, people across the Internet are a little confused (and maybe even offended) by the concept. Find all the info below.

Popeye's "Girl Dinner" Menu

Popeye's took the concept of "snacks for dinner" and ran with it by consolidating all of their beloved Southern side dishes into one menu—and they've aptly named it the "Girl Dinner" menu. When you order from this side-centric section, you can mix and match the following options:

  • Mashed Potatoes with Cajun Gravy

  • Homestyle Mac & Cheese

  • Coleslaw

  • Cajun Fries

  • Biscuits

If you're wondering where the chicken is, you're not alone. Popeye's famous fried chicken is not, in fact, part of their special "Girl Dinner" menu, and will have to be ordered separately.

Many people online fine this confusing. "There’s no way someone will suffer the ordeal of trying to get food from Popeye’s and not get any chicken…" one Reddit user commented.

"Does girl dinner mean no meat? I don’t understand," another wrote.

One begged the question: "Girls don’t like chicken? Yeah okay."

Aside from the baffling fact that there's no chicken involved, people also have a bone to pick (metaphorically, of course, due to the lack of meat) with the pricing. "On the app is the category Girl Dinner. If you click on everything, (all the items pictured above) then it is over $19.00 and no drink. It should have been like $6.99 for two items A biscuit and a drink," one commenter called out. "The way they did it makes no sense."

All in all, it seems that this "new menu" is mostly a glorified selection of sides. But that doesn't mean we won't fall for it. And of course, you can always order chicken separately. Remember that protein is important!

This menu will be available for a limited time at participating locations. Will you try it out—or will your personal girl dinner consist of healthier snacks? Let us know in the comments!
