Pop Tarts Is Celebrating Dia De Muertos With A Limited-Edition Box And Grants To Latinx Art Organizations

As far as I am concerned, come the day after Labor Day, it’s all about fall. I know *technically* that spooky season doesn’t start for another few weeks, but I like to get the celebrations going. Everything gets covered in pumpkin spice (which has already started), the leaves just begin to change colors, and everywhere you look is burnt orange, bright ghoul-y green, and blood red.

To celebrate the season, tons of brands give a fresh look to their products. Pop-Tarts is dressing up their boxes in the bright colors and designs of Dia De Muertos, or Day of the Dead, a holiday that originated in Mexico and honors the lives of loved ones who have passed.

On top of the Frosted Chocolatey Churro Pop-Tarts—a flavor inspired by the cinnamon and chocolate pastry—will be five different designs to celebrate the holiday: papel picado, colorful tissue cut into elaborate designs; calaveras de azúcar, the sugar skull; flor de cempasúchil, the marigold flower; veladora, the Mexican religious candle; and alebrijes, the colorful Mexican folk sculptures.

Pop-Tarts partnered with Kellogg’s HOLA Latino Business Employee Resource Group to come up with the designs to recognize and appreciate the contributions of the Latinx community. The brand is also working with the National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures (NALAC), a nonprofit dedicated to promoting, connecting and cultivating the next generation of Latinx arts and cultures. Pop-Tarts will provide grants to four Latinx art organizations serving their communities in Los Angeles, San Diego, Dallas, and Houston as a way to honor those who have passed but still inspire the youth of today.
