Even though Halloween is supposed to be fun, I get that it can be a liiittle stressful. Not only do you have to figure out what friend group you’re going to go out with that night, but you also have to come up with a Halloween makeup idea that'll look so fire on your 'gram, your crush will legit have to double tap. I know—it’s a lot of pressure. And while I can’t help you out with your pre-game plans (you’re on your own, sry) I can help you with your costume. Meet this pop-art makeup tutorial that will take your costume to new heights.

With super easy-to-follow steps, this tutorial inspired by the work of artist Roy Lichtenstein will transform your face into a literal masterpiece (not that it wasn’t one already). Plus, you can recreate the look with makeup you definitely own (think: eyeliner and volumizing mascara). Peep the steps below and start practicing ASAP—October will be here before you know it.

Step 1: Line your eyes

Smooth on a dollop of moisturizer (or primer) to prep your face, then blend your foundation and concealer across your skin to create an even base for your look. Line each eye with liquid eyeliner, extending the corners into a super-sleek cat eye.

Step 2: Fill in your brows

Outline your natural arches with a black pencil liner to create the frame of your brows. You really want your brows to pop (get it?) in this look, so make sure you use a bold liner instead of that neutral shade you always wear. Fill in your brows so they’re a solid block—yes, you’ll look a little bit wacky, but I promise it’ll all come together.

Step 3: Add cartoon-like lines

Next, draw thin black lines along your features to give your face that cartoon-like expression. Draw parentheses around your eyebrows, outline the shape of your nose, and finish off with bold lines below your cheekbones, along your jawline, and on the curve of your chin.

Step 4: Draw on your lashes

Big, wide-eyed, cartoon-like eyes are key in this Halloween look, so opt for three to four coats of a thick, volumizing mascara. Next, draw fake eyelashes on your eyelids and below your waterline with a black liquid liner. Finish off by swiping your black liner along your crease.

Step 5: Twist on red dots

To make your dots relatively consistent in size and shape, press the tip of a red pencil liner onto your skin and twist it to create a mark. Repeat, uh, a zillion times.

Step 6: Line your lips

Line your lips with the same red pencil liner you used in step 5, then fill them in.

Step 7: Outline your lips

Once your lips are completely filled in, outline them with a black pencil liner to really exaggerate and define the shape of your mouth.

Step 8: Add a little highlight

To give your lips some depth, draw a small white line on one side of your lower lip with a creamy pencil. This cute little addition gives the illusion of a reflection.
