Get your tissues ready, because this is one beautifully moving story.

Police in Pennsylvania surprised a little boy with a grand showing after he enacted a fundraising campaign for an officer stricken with stage IV cancer, reports CBS Philly. Avery Graham, 5, was gifted a trainee officer’s uniform and gave a brave salute to the boys in blue in front of his hoe.

Trainer Borough police officer Steve Adamek was the ringleader of the big surprise and the officer battling cancer. Little Avery began making bracelets to raise money for Officer Adamek’s battle, and the local force and neighborhood came together to honor the boy.

Although he was a little shy from all the attention, Avery gave Officer Adamek a big hug and was all smiles when he saw the tiny Trainer Borough Police uniform in his size. After going inside to change, Avery and Adamek stood together for a proper salute and photo op.

Avery then got another big surprise by way of a ride around in Adamek’s truck, getting a hero’s welcome throughout the town. Avery’s mom, Jennifer McKay, says her son is an “old soul” and that she’s proud of him. As she should be — and so are we all.
