Police stop post-prom party stocked with booze, marijuana and stripper poles

Police stopped an after-prom party so debaucherous that it "rivaled any bar,” before it began.

After their April 12 prom, three hundred students from West Boca Community High School in Florida boarded three charter busses and headed to a 5-acre Palm City, Florida, Airbnb rental with a cover charge of $80 a person.

But a school resource officer heard about the bash and called authorities, according to a Martin County Sheriff’s Office police report sent to Yahoo Lifestyle. At the rental, deputies encountered an “enormous” amount of alcohol stacked on the counter and in the refrigerator, Jello shots and rolled marijuana joints. The floors were covered in a protective plastic wrap.

A police spokesperson tells Yahoo Lifestyle, that stripper poles had been mounted to the ceiling with plans for a “bikini contest.”

The 19-year-old host, who made a collective $24,000 off the students, admitted that he planned the party but didn’t know who supplied the drugs and alcohol. He told police that he was canceling the party through social media.

“We had kids calling us asking how they could get their money back, but that’s not our decision,” the police spokesperson tells Yahoo Lifestyle.

The owner of the home lives in Austria and was “horrified and grateful” that police intervened before the party took off, a deputy tells Yahoo Lifestyle. He voided the rental agreement with Airbnb.

Spokespeople from Airbnb and the school did not return interview requests from Yahoo Lifestyle.

A police officer told The Associated Press that the party would have "rivaled any bar in Martin County that day."

Anton Seiss, a Palm Beach realtor who acted as the homeowner’s point of contact tells Yahoo Lifestyle that the teens rented the three-story home for several days.

His friend was panicked to receive a call from law enforcement. “He doesn’t allow parties,” says Seiss. “He said, ‘Do whatever you can stop this.’ We are grateful to the police.”
