Police Statement Sheds New Light on Treat Williams' Death

New details surrounding Treat Williams' death have been revealed.
The Everwood actor died in a motorcycle accident in Vermont yesterday, June 12, at the age of 71, and now, fans are gaining more insight into the star's final moments.
“Williams was unable to avoid a collision and was thrown from his motorcycle," Vermont State Police said in a statement obtained by Entertainment Tonight. "He suffered critical injuries and was airlifted to Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York, where he was pronounced dead."
The Hair actor was said to be wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Per the outlet, authorities are still waiting for word from medical examiners before commenting on Williams' pre-crash condition.

The fatal accident occurred on Monday evening around 5 p.m. on Route 30, specifically near the Long Trail Auto around the southwestern Vermont town of Dorset. As ET noted, investigators believe that the driver of a 2008 Honda SUV was making a lefthand turn into a parking lot and didn't see Williams' motorcycle. According to police, the driver had their turn signal on.
While the investigation of the collision is still ongoing, the driver was not detained by authorities at the time of the incident. The driver also suffered minor injuries without being hospitalized.
Barry McPherson, the actor’s longtime agent, confirmed the news of his death to People stating, "He was killed this afternoon. He was making a left or a right [and] a car cut him off."
"I'm just devastated. He was the nicest guy. He was so talented,” he continued, adding, "He was an actor's actor. Filmmakers loved him. He's been the heart of the Hollywood since the late 1970s. He was really proud of his performance this year. He's been so happy with the work that I got him. He's had a balanced career."
Williams is survived by his wife, actress Pam Van Sant, and their two children, Gill, 31, and Elinor, 25.
