Lexington Police reportedly found more than $95,000 in cash when they arrested former Kentucky football player Marcus Walker.

SEC Country reported on the circumstances surrounding Walker’s arrest on Wednesday. The junior defensive back was dismissed from the program on May 29, five days after he was taken into custody for drug trafficking.

From SEC Country:

When former Kentucky safety Marcus Walker was arrested at 4:40 a.m. on May 24 in Lexington on drug trafficking charges, police found $430 in cash in his pockets. After a search, $70,312 was found in a bag by a closet and another $25,000 was found in a box in the top-floor bedroom of a townhome he shared. The more than $95,000 in cash belonged to Walker, according to a property and evidence record obtained by SEC Country.

Police also were able to locate 52.86 grams of what was suspected to be cocaine. More than five pounds of marijuana was also found in various locations around the residence, including a water heater closet. “Digital scales and packaging material” were also discovered.

Police were called to the home following an alleged disturbance between Walker’s roommate, Tavon Wells, and Wells’ girlfriend. When Walker opened the door officers saw evidence of drugs present. Wells was also arrested.

“Inside the door, the living room was in a state of disarray with all the furniture and television strewn across the floor along with marijuana, cash, and blood,” the affidavit said.

Walker, 21, was a reserve safety for the Wildcats in 2017. Walker appeared in 21 games over the last two seasons, mainly on special teams. He redshirted his first season with the program. For his career, he registered 17 tackles. The Lake Wales, Florida, native was a three-star recruit in UK’s 2015 class.

He is currently free on bond.
