Pole Bicycles Files For Bankruptcy

It is a turbulent time in the Bike industry currently. Slowing demand and an oversupply coupled with economic uncertainty have many companies in a bad spot.

On April 17, 2024, the Finnish brand Pole Bicycles filed for bankruptcy. See CEO Leo Kokkonen’s announcement below.

Leo Kokkonen recorded this announcement to be published by EMTB Youtuber Rob Hancill, with whom Leo has a close personal relationship.

Kokkonen said that despite good growth for Pole, supply chain issues led to the company becoming insolvent requiring the brand to file for Bankruptcy.

In the video, Kokkonen said that the brand was for sale. Though they had a lead on a buyer the brand could not get it done. You can learn more about the bankruptcy here.

Pole is a brand that was founded by Leo himself. They are known for their unique-looking CNC-milled frames with radical geometry numbers. See below the release video of the unprecedented bike the Machine to get an idea of Pole's style.

Since then, Pole has not been afraid to produce unique-looking bikes, both acoustic and electric.

We at BIKE hope Wish Leo and Pole the best on their quest to find a buyer.
