'Pokémon' Releases First Trailer for New Live-Action Drama Series 'PokéTsume'

The Pokémon Company has expanded its live-action projects to a new dramatic series set to arrive later this month.

TV Tokyo's upcoming Pokémon-inspired show titled Pack Your Pocket With Adventure, but abbreviated to PokéTsume is slated to center around the life of a young Japanese woman named Madoki Akagi, played by Nanase Nishino, from the Kanto region. It is important to note that the Kanto region was the inspiration for the same region in the Pokémon games. After her college graduation, Madoka found herself working a brief stint as a kamaboko-maker before moving to Tokyo for a new job at a small ad agency. Living in the city and working at the ad agency is the step in the right direction, however, Madoka is chosen to lead a presentation that is set to determine the company's future. In the first episode, she is caught up in the overwhelming expectations of her job and her life. She receives a package in the mail from her mother with an old GameBoy and a copy of Pokémon Red. In the trailer, Madoka is thrilled for her gift as it marks the beginning of the plot where the series focuses on a millennial office work who finds comfort in her nostalgic childhood game.

Take a trip down memory lane and watch the trailer below. PokéTsume debuts in Japan on October 19.
