Wait, how many guys have been in that suit?!
Who plays The Mandalorian? The answer may actually surprise you—because it's more than one person!
The titular Star Wars hero is almost perpetually covered by a helmet, so theoretically, it could be basically anyone ... except, well, it's not. There are three actors who wield that glorious helmet at any given time.

Who plays The Mandalorian in the suit?
While Pedro Pascal stars as The Mandalorian, it's not always him in the suit depending on what the scene is and how stunt-heavy it is, as well as Pascal's availability for filming. For action-heavy scenes and stunts, or to accommodate Pascal being temporarily unavailable to shoot a scene in his helmet, The Mandalorian has two body doubles: actor Brendan Wayne (yep, he's John Wayne's grandson!) and stuntman Lateef Crowder dos Santos, rocking the helmet and suit.
Wayne rocked the suit for all of The Mandalorian Season 1 and was in Season 2 as well.

Why are there two actors for The Mandalorian?
During filming for much of The Mandalorian, Pedro Pascal wasn't always available for certain scenes because he's involved with about a billion other projects. Bryce Dallas Howard, who directed The Mandalorian Season 1, Episode 4 "Sanctuary," told Vulture, “[Pedro Pascal] was in rehearsals for King Lear on Broadway. And so, while we were doing my episode, I wasn’t working with Pedro."
Brendan Wayne plays the Mandalorian in the suit and under the helmet for most scenes of Season 1, while Pedro Pascal voices the character and plays him without the helmet. Wayne previously worked with The Mandalorian creator and showrunner Jon Favreau on Cowboys & Aliens and came in at Favreau's request for a screen test to simply move around. He didn't know what project he was auditioning for, as Favreau told him it was top secret. When he tried on the Mandalorian costume, he initially thought he was playing Boba Fett.

"At the screen test. I’d kind of suspected [it was a Star Wars project], because my brothers and I had every action figure, but Boba Fett was mine. Just the fact that I got to put it on was enough, because it meant that much to me as part of my childhood," Wayne told Vulture. "And I was talking to a couple of actor buddies of mine, and they were saying, 'Oh, you’re going have to do this and demand this,' and I was like, 'I don’t care. They want me to play, I’ll play it. I’ll play it on fire if they want.' How often do you get to create something? That was really cool—being a part of creating a character who had never stepped foot in Star Wars yet."
