Appeal Studios' Outcast 2, now known as Outcast: A New Beginning, is a sequel to the 1999 classic open-world game, and you can now play it for free. No, not the full game but only a slice of it, which should be enough for you to pre-order the game before its release next month.

The game looks to recreate the feeling of boundless freedom in the original but with modern graphics and a cool jetpack. Set in the alien world of Adelpha, you’ll be able to fly around its skies while shooting giant mechs with a variety of customizable weapons. It's an open-world game with guns and jetpacks, and every game is better with the latter.

The demo has been available to PC players for over a week now, with console players now being able to join in on the fun. Looking at the size of the demo, which sits at just under 40 GB on PC, it looks like Appeal Studios has packed in a lot for fans to enjoy before making up their minds about a purchase.

The official description of Outcast: A New Beginning is as follows:

Play as Cutter Slade, ex-Navy SEAL, and gain the trust of the local Talans. Engage in guerilla warfare such as destroying enemy ammo convoys to weaken bases and freely choosing where to launch the next attack, shaping the success of the Talan uprising. Explore the breathtaking alien world of Adelpha, support the local Talans in their struggles and fight your way through fast-paced battles against invading robot forces in this 3rd-person, open world, action adventure sequel to the 1999 cult classic.

After playing the demo, you can pre-order the game with a sweet discount of 17% on PC at $49.79. PlayStation and Xbox owners can get it for 15% off at $59.49.
