Play as an Action Figure in 'Hypercharge: Unboxed'

First released for Nintendo Switch and PC in 2020, Hypercharge: Unboxed is a wave-based shooter inspired by movies such as Small Soldiers and Toy Story in which players can play as action figures in environments such as garages, kitchens, and backyards.

While Hypercharge first opened for early access nearly five years ago, the game has recently skyrocketed in popularity thanks to organic social media buzz which started with a tweet showcasing the gameplay of a Mighty Falcon figure battling it out on the shelves of a toy store. "Dear Xbox fans, positive vibes. Let's make this tweet go viral! We are five adults who are making our childhood dream game where you play as action figures," writes the team behind Hypercharge, alluding to an early signup link for the Xbox release. After several shoutouts in the community, Hypercharge, which is rated 9/10 on Steam, has received over 30,000 submissions on its Xbox signup page and has become a top seller on Steam.

According to Tom Warren from The Verge, Hypercharge is set to release on Xbox next year. In the meantime, the game is currently available on the Nintendo store and Steam.

Elsewhere in gaming, Sony is reportedly hiring an engineer to bring PS3 emulation to the PS5.
