Tahiti. Santorini. Bali, the Bahamas, Bermuda. All have attracted newlyweds in droves in the past decade—and indeed, all were voted the best honeymoon islands in the world in the Readers' Choice Awards. But other honeymoon trends have emerged in recent years: like staying closer to home or heading off the beaten path, or choosing to spend more time after the wedding with family. (More on the "buddymoon" concept later.) Hear the complete podcast here.

In the latest edition of the Travelogue podcast, we dive into the topic like we're attacking a chocolate fountain at a wedding, covering industry changes as well as the history of the honeymoon, which dates all the way back to the 5th century (and involves mead). Along the way, we also touch on the benefits of time apart during a honeymoon, why it pays to look at the exchange rate, things married members of team Traveler wish they had known before planning their own honeymoons, ways to save money on planning yours, and our take on couples massages. The rest? Well, you'll just have to listen.

Thanks to Condé Nast Traveler's Brad Rickman, Paul Brady, Laura Dannen Redman, and Katherine LaGrave for the lively discussion, and to guest contributor Cassie Shortsleeve for sharing her tips—and for letting us plan part of her honeymoon. As always, much gratitude to Brett Fuchs for engineering and mixing. Check back every Friday for the latest installment of Travelogue. To keep up with our podcast each week, subscribe to Travelogue on the iTunes store and if you have a minute to spare, leave a review—we love to hear from you.
