We're not sure if we're excited or confused.

Picture this: Your family is voting on what to get for dinner. Pizza wins the majority, but you’re craving the beefy bite of a burger. Until now, you would have been stuck following the pack. Luckily, Pizza Hut now has the solution to your conundrum with its new menu item.

Meet the Cheeseburger Melt. The ubiquitous pizza chain says that it’s encouraging diners to “Cheat On Their Cheeseburger” with a meal that, while far from illicit, may feel just a little bit sinful. That’s because the new limited-time product combines the best of everything Pizza Hut has to offer.

Pizza Hut's New Cheeseburger Melt

A meaty patty is tucked into two slices of Pizza Hut's signature Thin N' Crispy crust, along with applewood-smoked bacon, onions, and gooey mozzarella and cheddar cheeses. As if that wasn't indulgent enough, the Cheeseburger Melt comes with a dipping cup of Burger Sauce on the side.

To spread the news about its burger, Pizza Hut is pulling a stunt that’s likely to draw the ire of its peers. This week, it’s sending delivery drivers in Miami and Chicago to the drive-throughs of other fast-food burger restaurants. Customers can scan a giant QR code that the drivers have displayed on their back window and score a coupon for a free Cheeseburger Melt and Pepsi, while supplies last.

Not in one of those cities? You can still try the new burger today. Just like the other crispy Melts (they include Pepperoni Lover’s, Buffalo Chicken, Chicken Bacon Parmesan and Meat Lover’s), the Cheeseburger Melt is available on its own. But we’re salivating over the new My Hut Box offer.

The My Hut Box, which starts at $6.99, allows customers to combine their favorite individual Pizza Hut meals with a side. Choose between Melts or a two-topping Personal Pan Pizza, plus a side of fries or four boneless wings, and a 20-ounce drink.

Will Pizza Hut’s Cheeseburger Melt replace the big names in your fast-food burger rotation? The only way to find out is to take a bite and judge for yourself.
