"Pitch Perfect" Stars Anna Camp and Skylar Astin Announce Separation

"This decision was made mutually and amicably."

Anna Camp and Skylar Astin’s Pitch Perfect love story has come to an official end.

The two actors announced their separation on Friday, April 19, confirming their split to E! News in a joint statement, noting that their decision was made “mutually and amicably.” Anna and Skylar’s statement went on to note: “We kindly ask for privacy as we navigate this transition.”

People reports that, according to court documents, Anna filed divorce papers on Friday afternoon, allegedly citing “irreconcilable differences,” with no specific date listed for the separation.

Anna and Skylar’s breakup comes after two and a half years of marriage; the couple tied the knot back in September 2016, surrounded by their friends and fellow Pitch Perfect stars. As noted by E!, the former couple met on the set of the now-iconic film in 2012, though their relationship started as mostly platonic, and evolved into romance the following year.

Ahead of their wedding, Skylar told PopSugar that he knew he wanted to get to know Anna the second he met her. “I just wanted to be in her life,” he remarked. “I knew that. I never saw an end of wanting to be in her life, so to say that it's love at first sight, there's some truth to that.”

But even then, the actor valued privacy and a healthy distance from the public. “There are certain things you share, and certain things you hold close to your heart,” Skylar said. “Not everything has to be on display, and both of us . . . we're both Libras, so we're both very balanced. We both understand what that's all about.”
