A stolen Pit Bull mix has been reunited with his dog mom after two harrowing days apart. Following a vicious attack on the dog mom, a pair of suspects took her 11-year-old pup from a gas station in North Hollywood, California.

Pit Bull stolen during gas station attack on dog mom

According to CBS News, a dog mom entered a 7-Eleven convenience store in the 11100 block of Burbank Boulevard on Tuesday morning. Her Pit BullRhodesian Ridgeback mix, Drake, was with her on a leash. Shortly thereafter, surveillance video shows two suspects – a man and a woman – enter the store. They joined forces in a “seemingly unprovoked” attack on the dog mom. The suspects “used bodily force to remove the dog from her possession,” according to a police release. Then, the male suspect exited the store with the dog. The female suspect stayed in the store, beating and stomping on the dog mom.

Missing Pit Bull found and returned to dog mom

Los Angeles Police Department officers initiated a search for Drake, but didn’t find him. Then, someone at a sober living residence in Orange County found the dog. They said that a man abandoned the dog on the doorstep, claiming that he was “helping a woman rescue the dog.” The sober living resident realized the dog was Drake – who has an identifying zig-zag mark on his back – thanks to news coverage about the ordeal. They called the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. Then, LAPD officers came to pick up Drake. Finally, authorities reunited the Drake with his dog mom.

The female suspect in the case is in custody. However, the male suspect is still at large. According to KTLA 5, he is a Hispanic male who was wearing a black-and-white hoodie, blue jeans, and black shoes at the time of the crime.

If you have information on the suspect at large, contact North Hollywood Robbery Detectives Noah Stone and Chris Phillips at 818-754-8424.
