Ree Drummond is denying claims that she used Ozempic as part of her weight-loss journey, which she embarked on more than three years ago.

Several celebrities have confirmed in the last year that they embraced Ozempic and other medications used for weight loss to shed a few pounds. Others, like Drummond, have countered rumors that suggested their body transformation was attributable to weight-loss medication.

“I did not take Ozempic, Wegovy, or similar medications,” Drummond, 55, told fans in an updated blog post about her weight-loss journey. The Food Network star first shared the post in June 2021, about five months after she began changing how she consumed food and exercised. She shared a few key updates this week to reflect important notes about how she did—and didn’t—lose more than 50 pounds over the last few years.

Drummond, who said she has not taken “‘weight loss gummies’ or other supplements” either, said she supports people who have elected to take these kinds of medications, which have been “an absolute godsend for so many people,” including some of her friends.

“For me, the simple, boring truth is that when I set out to lose weight in January of 2021, I had never heard of that class of drugs,” the food blogger wrote. “And to be honest, if I had heard of them and had seen all the results that are out there, I might have been tempted to try them.”

Instead, Drummond explained that she used other strategies—like consuming fewer calories and more protein, exercising and building muscle—to reach her goals. She outlined 10 of the strategies that have worked for her, ending with a note that she is “still working on it!”

Now armed with knowledge about weight-loss medications, Drummond wrote that she has continued sticking with her own plan rather than adding that tool into the mix. Though she didn’t explain why she made that decision, she teased a future blog post in a March 12 post on Facebook that she said would include a “comprehensive update.”
