Pinocchio comes to life (once again) in this modern-day retelling of a classic tale.

Disney+ recently unveiled the second official trailer for the live-action remake of Pinocchio, which is inspired by the 1940 animated film (and the 1883 Italian children’s book, The Adventures of Pinocchio, by Carlo Collodi).

In the teaser, fans get to see Tom Hanks turn into Geppetto, an Italian woodcarver who crafts a puppet named Pinocchio (voiced by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth). One night, a Blue Fairy (Cynthia Erivo) visits Geppetto’s toy shop and brings the puppet to life. The caption read, “The beloved classic comes to life in the all-new live-action #Pinocchio! 🕰 🕯🦗🧚‍♂️🌟🐋.”

However, the only way Pinocchio can become a real boy is if he proves himself to be brave, truthful and unselfish. In the sneak peek, audiences get a glimpse of Pinocchio’s trustworthy guide, Jiminy Cricket, who is voiced by Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Back in March, the streaming service released a first-look teaser for the upcoming live-action film on social media. This clip featured all the characters from the original animated movie—but with a brand-new twist.

When you wish upon a star…Pinocchio will premiere on September 8 on Disney+.
