Pinocchi-Oh Em Gee! Tom Hanks Is in Early Talks to Play Geppetto for the Live-Action Disney Remake

“When You Wish Upon a Star”…you get Tom Hanks in a leading role.

Per Collider, the Sully actor is being eyed to take on the role of the Italian toymaker Geppetto in Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of the classic 1940 animated film Pinocchio (not to be confused with the upcoming animated stop-motion remake directed by Guillermo del Toro for Netflix).

While Hanks, 62, has yet to sign on the dotted line, the film does have Paddington’s director, Paul King, attached to the film, as well as Rogue One’s writer Chris Weitz as producer.

As the voice actor for Woody in the Toy Story franchise, Hanks is basically an expert in talking toy movies. We just hope the two-time Oscar winner can *carve* out enough time for a role in the remake, which is slated to begin production summer 2019.

Our (wooden) fingers are crossed.
