Pink Fan Goes into Premature Labor Mid-Concert, Walks to Hospital to Give Birth
Could you imagine going into labor at a Pink concert and walking one mile to the hospital? This isn't some random hypothetical question to figure out how tough you are, but a real-life experience for one fan of the pop star.
At 31 weeks pregnant, Angela Mercer left her home city of Albany, New York, and headed to Boston, Massachusetts, with her mom Barbara and sister-in-law Amy for a fun girls' weekend celebrating Barbara's birthday.
The pre-planned festivities didn't include Mercer going into labor during Pink's Fenway Park performance and giving birth preterm, nor did the itinerary list a brief hike to the hospital while Mercer was laboring, but that's precisely what happened.

Shortly after arriving at the show, Mercer began to experience contractions and called her doctor, who advised her to go to the nearest hospital. The only problem being the traffic around Fenway made finding a ride and getting anywhere nearly impossible, so the three decided the quickest way to the city's nearest hospital would be to walk, according to a statement from Brigham and Women's Hospital.
The three managed to get themselves to the hospital–about a mile from the stadium–where Mercer reportedly welcomed a healthy baby boy named Aycen Hart on Barbara's birthday.
"My husband Ace and I are so incredibly grateful to the exceptional team at Brigham and Women's Hospital! The medical, case management, and social work staff guided us confidently with their knowledge and expertise, all while being personable, empathetic, and engaging. We are sincerely appreciative," Mercer shared.
While the three ladies didn't get to enjoy Pink's performance like they had anticipated, the family said they got the greatest gift of all, a healthy baby.
Mercer later spoke with CBS Boston, telling reporters that Aycen has since been transported to a NICU closer to home and that she's looking forward to a "reschedule" on Pink's next tour.
"The doctors don't have any major concerns," Mercer said. "It's amazing. He was so early, a lot of things could have gone wrong, so we're in a good spot and just so happy."
