This charming 16th century pink castle for sale in Banff, Aberdeenshire, is like something out of a fairytale – and it could now be yours for a cool £1.5 million.

Castle of Park is a grade A listed building with eight bedrooms, nine bathrooms, six reception rooms, an additional two-bedroom flat, an outdoor swimming pool and 36 acres of sweeping gardens.

The Park Estate was originally part of the Royal Forest of Banff and was granted by King Alexander II to a Norman knight, Sir Walram de Normanville, back in 1242. Current owners purchased the castle in 2007, refurbishing it over the years. As well as being their home, the owners have been renting the property out as a self-catering holiday home.

There's nothing low-key about the interiors here. Expect rich hues, decadent furnishings, wooden wall panelling, high ceilings, roaring fireplaces and large beautifully-decorated rooms with space for the whole family.

Outside, spread across 35.67 acres, there are well-kept lawns, a pond, a labyrinth, rose garden, croquet lawn and a large walled garden with an orchard. Wonderfully, too, there is also a pool with a recently-installed enclosure (perfect if you love swimming all-year round).

As for the area? The castle sits amongst rolling farmland close to the Moray coastline and just south of the village of Cornhill (where you'll discover quaint country pubs, cafes, a harbour and a small supermarket). From scenic walking routes to some of the best wildlife around, this home really does tick all the boxes.

Castle of Park is currently on the market for £1,500,000 via Knight Frank.
