Pillsbury Has Funfetti Pancake and Waffle Mix, And We’ve Never Been So Excited for Breakfast
Pillsbury’s Funfetti cakes and frostings are a staple for birthday celebrations—we’ve all had at least one slice of Funfetti. But on September 19, Funfetti is turning 30, and as you’d expect from one of the most iconic birthday cakes around, there are tons of delicious ways to celebrate. You can even eat Funfetti for breakfast!

Expanding beyond dessert, Pillsbury recently added Funfetti Pancake and Waffle Mix to their permanent line-up of sprinkle-filled products. It was first released back in April, but if you’ve missed it on store shelves (like us), it might be because it’s only at smaller regional grocery chains, including Hy-Vee, Albertson’s, Safeway, Schnuck’s, SpartanNash, K-Va-T, Ahold, Giant, Jewel, Brookshire’s, and Cub Foods. A box of this super-fun mix retails for around $3, and it’s as easy as it is tasty—all you have to do is add water, stir, and cook. Top it with a candle and maple syrup or a homemade spread, but either way, Funfetti-filled pancakes and waffles definitely have us more excited to get out of bed in the morning.

In addition to pancakes and waffles, you might have noticed other new products in the Funfetti family recently. The brand is no stranger to adding new items to their lineup—in fact, in the past 30 years, Pillsbury has introduced 39 different Funfetti products, including Brownie Pop and Whoopie Pie mixes (sadly out of stock now). Seasonal mixes are also popular—Funfetti has had 14 in their rotation, including Stars and Stripes and Easter-themed mixes. They even have a gluten-free version of their Funfetti mix (and trust us, you'd never guess it's gluten-free cake).

To help celebrate their birthday, Funfetti is also releasing their first new non-seasonal cake mixes in 30 years, including the first flavored Funfetti cake mix. Funfetti Unicorn and Galaxy mixes are both joining their iconic birthday counterparts on shelves nationwide to add even more pizzazz to your cake. The galaxy version is the same yellow cake recipe we know and love with blue and purple Funfetti mixed in. You can pair it with a new blue vanilla frosting that comes with tiny star, moon, and rocketship sprinkles.

Funfetti Unicorn is also fun, and it’s a truly new flavor. Rather than yellow, this mix is strawberry cake with purple and yellow Funfetti. To give it some real unicorn flair, pair with Pillsbury’s new unicorn-themed Funfetti frosting. It’s a vanilla frosting that comes with multicolored unicorn-shape sprinkles for giving your cakes and cupcakes as much unicorn power as possible.
For a celebratory breakfast or dessert, Funfetti now has both covered. You could even use their pancake and waffle mix to make a fun, birthday-themed dinner for a breakfast-for-dinner lover's special day—just add eggs and bacon on the side.
