Pikachu Has Bangs in New Pokemon Video Games
Many of us can likely relate to the struggle of styling bangs — spending hours forcing them to lay just right, at-home trims gone horribly wrong, excess forehead sweat in the summer...you know the drill. (Then of course, there's the waiting game of growing them out.) And while #hairspo usually comes courtesy of celebs and beauty bloggers, this season, it's taking an unlikely form in one particularly famous Pokémon: Pikachu, who recently got a new makeover which inexplicably, includes a trendy set of micro bangs. (Yes, really.)
The big reveal comes courtesy of Let's Go Pikachu! and Let's Go Eevee!, two newly released video games that have been completely redesigned and will soon be released for the Nintendo Switch console. A new trailer for the two games dropped on Twitter last week, and it didn't take long for fans to catch on to the surprising detail that they will now be able to customize their Pokémon's appearance with various outfits and — you guessed it — new hairstyles.
Gamers who are inclined to take beauty risks, however virtual they may be, can design their versions of Pikachu or Eevee to include chic baby bangs or a curly, pompadour-inspired 'do.
Naturally, Twitter users didn't wait to weigh in on the Pokémon's new look: "Pikachu going thru a bad breakup and got impulse bangs," wrote one fan. "Who broke up with pikachu," asked another. Others are comparing Pika's updated look to the bang phases that Emma Roberts and Beyoncé went through. Truly, never has a video game character been more universally relatable.
The new Nintendo Switch games will be available starting in November, so you have a few months to figure out how exactly you want to style your Pikachu. The best part? Unlike your own past experiences with frustrating 'dos, these micro-bangs can be swiped away with the click of a button.
