These Are the Pieces That Vogue Staffers Are Wearing for Fashion Month—And Beyond

Somehow, the idea of treating yourself is especially alluring in the fall. For kids, it’s all about back-to-school excitement, and for editors, it’s showtime. The big question: What to wear? Even if the weather stays warm, after a long summer of breezy frocks and flat sandals, the pull of cozy sweaters, crisp shirting, and boots is almost irresistible.

Topping the lists of Vogue editors are items like leather pants for a polished look and boots that are both chic and comfortable enough to race around town in. Suiting was one of the fall season’s biggest trends, and, of course our editors are eager to give some sharp tailoring a test run. Green light, go!

Here, the 10 pieces Vogue editors are wearing during fashion month—and will love forever.

Sally Singer, Creative Director

I am having a difficult time wrapping my head around winter and the need for fully-covered feet. All I want to wear for the next month are these plissé mules from Loeffler Randall. Pretty feet! Now that’s a trend worth keeping around.

Chioma Nnadi, fashion news director

The changing of the seasons always sort of throws me off—what’s the shoe, the bag, the coat I’ll be wearing this season? I’m still trying to figure out what I’ll be wearing for fall. That said, I am for sure excited to wear my new Chopova Lowena kilt, it’s the kind of thing I can throw over a beaten-up, old pair of Levi’s and a simple white tee—and, suddenly, I’m transformed.

Steff Yotka, fashion news editor

I’ve never owned a suit before in my life until earlier this summer. In a pendulum swing to full tomboy, I chopped off my hair and bought a double-breasted suit from Acne Studios. With low, boxy buttons and loose pants, it’s quickly become my favorite thing to wear—and the easiest. With a white tee and Converse, it’s dressed up without being fussy, and really quite ace for dancing in, if the fun I had last night is any indication.

Brooke Bobb, senior fashion news writer

When I’m not wearing Birkenstocks, Staud’s Gita sandals will be my go-to shoe for the week. The kitten heel is the perfect height for running around between appointments and shows. As for my wishlist? I am currently obsessed with the beautiful silk floral dresses from Bernadette. They’re designed by a mother-daughter duo in Antwerp, Belgium, who are insanely cool.

Emily Farra, senior fashion news writer

I’m excited for the unusually chilly weather we’re having this week, which in my mind equates to the perfect dress-and-boots weather! (There are only a few weeks each year that present this opportunity; pretty soon we’ll have to add tights and a coat.) I always have a hard time finding great boots—something sturdy yet elegant and relatively simple, and without hardware or buckles. Oh, and not wildly expensive, considering how much I’ll wear them. These two pairs from Loeffler Randall and Vince are ideal and would go with everything from printed dresses to jeans.

Willow Lindley, accessories director

Converse high-tops are my Fashion Week go-to! They are such classics and always save my feet by the time I am exhausted—which is around day four of shows. And for something new, a great bag to get me through both shows and the transition into fall, I’m obsessed with this gorgeous Bottega Veneta suede bag that fits a whole lot of things, so it really carries you through the day.

Anny Choi, market editor

I just got a pair of Sandro leather pants that I want to wear every day. They are the perfect transitional piece for September fashion month, when the weather is unpredictable. Leather pants feel a little more dressed up than jeans, and they are chic enough to wear all day and into the evening.
