With the money to pay for personal assistants, professional organizers, and full-time chefs and drivers, celebrities are oblivious to a lot of the annoying things you deal with on a day-to-day basis: packing lunches, having the oil changed, running out of toothpaste. But even the rich and famous aren’t spared the most annoying place in the world: the airport.

Some celebs move through the airport like we do: Let’s keep it comfortable and make it out of here without contracting anything viral. But other famous people, of course, treat LAX like every other public place: just another runway to strut down.

Here’s how four celebs do airports, in varying degrees of chic.

Victoria Beckham

The most posh, of course, is Posh herself, who made her way through JFK earlier this month. She mixed and matched three patterns—polka dots, plaid, and argyle—and looked more pulled together than I have in all of 2019. Maybe it’s the wine-colored boots and bag or the supersize sunglasses that tied everything together; maybe she made a deal with the devil, who gave her style powers the rest of us just can’t comprehend.

Also at JFK, Rihanna looked more comfortable than Mrs. Beckham, but she too pulled off some style wizardry I’d never attempt in an airport: head-to-toe white. Her outfit was built on top of two of America’s favorite airport staples—sweats and a cotton T-shirt. For added warmth, presumably, she topped them with a jacket and a plush teddy vest. A white bag and white sunnies were the perfect finishing touches. (Don’t miss Karen in the background, snapping a low-key Ri-Ri photo to show her friends.)

Alexa Chung

Landing in London after Milan Fashion Week, Alexa Chung was on par with my standard airport jeans and T-shirt, but she topped hers with some kind of sheer-and-sparkly dickey that made the whole look next-level. I have questions about how she shucked the dickey in the security line with getting makeup all over the neck or the beads tangled in her hair.

Chloë Grace Moretz

Meanwhile, at Charles de Gaulle, Chloë Grace Moretz paired lug-sole boots with wide-leg black trousers and a black T-shirt. A color-block blazer in shades of gray keeps the look from veering into “high school drama club stagehand” territory. The most noteworthy thing in the photo isn’t the eight pieces of LV-logo luggage—it’s that three of the bags have travel outfits of their own.
