Phoebe Sumter, Middle Flint Health and Wellness to host mental health aid classes

AMERICUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Phoebe Sumter Medical Center (PSMC) is collaborating with Middle Flint Health and Wellness to host mental health first aid classes.

The classes are taking place in June and July, with the first taking place Saturday, June 1 at the PSMC Wellness and Education Center.

According to PSMC, the Mental First Aid course teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders.

The program is free, with sign up being first come first serve. To register email mjohnson@phoebehealth.com.

The remaining classes are:

  • June, 1 and 15, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

  • July, 13 and 20, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
