Post-Bridgerton, Phoebe Dynevor managed to snag one of Hollywood's most eligible bachelors: Pete Davidson. Yes, while you may have forgotten about their short-but-sweet fling (it was post-Ariana Grane and pre-Kim Kardashian for anyone confused about where in the timeline we are), Dynevor said that the very public relationship was a harsh lesson in what she'd gotten herself into as someone in the spotlight. In a new interview, she revealed that she was "naïve" about the whole situation and, frankly, had no idea that anyone would pay any attention to who she was seeing. So, while she may be familiar with the machinations of Lady Whistledown, she had no idea what was coming for her with outlets like the Daily Mail hounding her.

"It just goes back to being naïve — I didn't think anyone would care," Dynevor told Elle. "I was just being a young woman and dating and somehow that provokes a conversation. There were lots of hard lessons I had to learn through basically just having a personal life."

E! notes that Dynevor and Davidson dated for just a few months in 2021, officially starting with an April date in the English countryside and a sighting at Wimbledon in July. In addition to not realizing what being in a high-profile celebrity couple would be like, she adds that she didn't anticipate that everyone would be looking at her social media feeds under a microscope.

"You realize, ‘Oh, I can't live my life in the way that I used to. I have to keep my cards slightly closer to my chest,'" the actress, who is starring in Netflix's Fair Play, added. "There was a time, for example, when I'd post anything on my Instagram, and now I'm very, very careful about what I put out into the world."

Dynevor finished, saying that she's more understanding of her place in the entertainment sphere now, choosing to focus on her work (Fair Play hits the streamer on Oct. 6) instead of the gossip.

"People are going to make up whatever story that they want to make from a few pictures, that's fine," she said. "I had to learn to let things go and let it wash over my head instead of the normal reaction, which is to be like, ‘But that's not true, and that didn't happen.' You have to let it go and focus on the work. I really am just here to act. I love my job so much, and it was weird for me that the attention was being taken away from my work."

Sources told E! News that Dynevor and Davidson fizzled out because of the long-distance nature of their relationship. She was off to film the sophomore season of Bridgerton in London while Davidson's home base was and continues to be New York City.

"The long distance made it very difficult," a source said at the time of their breakup. "They had fun, but it wasn't sustainable being so far apart. It was great while it lasted, but they both agreed it was best to move on."
