Philadelphia Cream Cheese Finally Goes Plant-BasedPhiladelphia Cream Cheese

For many people, holiday baking just got a major upgrade thanks to a new product from Philadelphia Cream Cheese. They have finally announced the addition of a vegan, plant-based spread to its lineup. Philadelphia Plant-Based has been two years in the making, and, according to the brand, we can expect a spread that has "simple, high-quality ingredients, creamy spreadable texture, and delicious taste."

For those who still haven't fully dipped their toes in the sea of plant-based products, the new spread could serve as a good starter given that it's said to mimic the taste and texture of OG Philadelphia Cream Cheese. And according to Robert Scott, President of Research & Development at The Kraft Heinz Company, we have flexitarians to thank for Philadelphia Plant-Based spread.

“The influx of flexitarian consumers has driven growth within the plant-based market, which is now more than 20x the size of the vegan population,” said Scott in a statement. “As the brand that has set the cream cheese standard for 150 years, we realized the current options weren’t meeting consumer expectations and there was no trusted leader. Philadelphia Plant-Based spread not only provides a solution that mirrors the taste and texture of our iconic Philadelphia brand, but it also reinforces Kraft Heinz’s bet to bring plant-based offerings to the masses.”

Philadelphia Plant-Based spread is currently available for purchase in the Southeast. As for the rest of the country, you'll have to wait until summer 2023 to use it in a plant-based strawberry cheesecake and other vegan desserts.
